​Rudy Pankow, born on August 12, 1998, in Ketchikan, Alaska, is an American actor who has garnered acclaim for his portrayal of JJ Maybank in the Netflix teen drama series Outer Banks. Raised in the coastal town of Ketchikan, Rudy is the middle child of Andrew and Penny Pankow, with two brothers, Alec and Henning. During his formative years, he developed an interest in acting and production, initially exploring these fields through YouTube videos in middle school. At Ketchikan High School, he was active in sports, participating in soccer and cross-country events. Although he initially considered attending culinary school, Pankow ultimately decided to pursue acting, enrolling in the Michael Woolson Studio in Los Angeles to refine his craft. In 2024, he took on the role of Romeo in the American Repertory Theater’s production of Romeo and Juliet, showcasing his versatility as an actor. ​

Since 2020, Pankow has been in a relationship with Elaine Siemek, a film photographer and assistant to the showrunner of Outer Banks.
